HOS COMMENDS THE STATE’S GOVERNANCE STYLE THROUGH A VIBRANT AND PURPOSEFUL PUBLIC SERVICE

The Head of Service has commended the governance style in Lagos State, which according to her is characterized by promises fulfilled and anchored through a vibrant and purposeful Public Service.

Speaking at the 2018 Ministerial Press Briefing, organized by the Public Service Office, in conjunction with the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) and the Public Procurement Agency (PPA), to commemorate the third year in Office of His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the Head of Service, Mrs. Folasade Adesoye while briefing the press on the achievements of her office in the last one year, said the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is characterized by ingenuity, high intellect, competence, compassion and the willingness to dare to differ, break new frontiers and blaze a trail.

According to her, twelve (12) Senior Public Servants drawn from the crop of seasoned, proficient and competent Senior management were elevated by His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to the position of Permanent Secretary.

She noted that in order to have a world-class Public Service where staff have the right attitude, the State initiated the issuance of letters of commendation  to Officers identified to have consistently met or exceeded agreed set targets and exhibited exceptional work ethics and diligence in the discharge of their duties.

On the Ease of Doing Business Initiative being implemented by the State Government and managed by the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, she said Lagos State received the Presidential Enabling Business Environment PEBEC-IMPACT Awards in recognition of the State’s contribution to the 2016-2017 Ease of doing Business Reform, aimed at creating enabling environment for local and foreign investors in the State and in Nigeria at large.

She added that the state Government was also honoured by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) , where the State received the CIPM- Human Resource (HR) Best Practice Award, Public Sector Category within the year under review.

On the State Government’s Citizens’ Gate online portal, the HOS explained that in order to ensure that the portal performs at its optimum, OTCI organized a Stakeholders’ sensitization workshop for the representatives of MDAs to acquaint them with the necessary pre-requisite for the successful implementation of phase 2 of the project; adding that citizens’ feedback on the portal were also monitored and tracked to ensure tickets generated are forwarded to the appropriate offices for prompt redress.

On the recently concluded Service Charter Week, the HOS said MDAs who had done well in fulfilling their Service Level Agreements (SLAs), especially in projecting the image and mandate of the State Government in the discharge of efficient services to the citizenry were recognized and rewarded.

The Head of Service while appreciating the organizers and supporters of the Year 2018 Press briefing for a well planned and successful Ministerial Press briefing used the opportunity to celebrate diligent Public Servants in the State for their readiness to embrace change as efforts are being consolidated for the State to become a Smart City.

The Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs Fiyinfuoluwa Adenike Ogunbanke in her remark thanked the Office of the Head of Service and the Agencies under it for the remarkable achievements recorded within the year under review, and the Permanent Secretaries who turned out to support the Office.
